Mou between NSSF and PABSON

Kathmandu, July 3, 2025, A significant memorandum of understanding was signed today between the Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) and the Private and Boarding School Organization Nepal (PABSON) to strengthen school-level sports activities and support the physical, mental, and social development of students. PABSON is the national school institution to govern 6500 private schools.

The main objective of this MoU is to establish a collaborative framework between the Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) and the Private and Boarding School Organization Nepal (PABSON) to promote the development and organization of school sports in private and boarding schools across Nepal.

This partnership will support the growth of school sports programs and sports education programs and create opportunities for students to participate in organized sports activities globally. The agreement also outlines the terms, roles, and responsibilities of cooperation in developing school sports infrastructure, organizing events, and promoting physical education.

According to the memorandum of understanding, NSSF and PABSON will jointly organize national and international-level school sports programs, develop a coaches program, collaborate on sports materials, ensure the participation of students, and coordinate and represent children in the activities of the ISF (International School Sports Federation).

During the program, the president of NSSF, Binod Shrestha, and the president of PABSON, Mr. Krishna Prasad Adhikari, signed the memorandum of understanding. In the event, Vice President of Nepal School Sports Federation (NSSF) Mohan Kumar Karki, Secretary General Raj Kumar Karki, NSSF Member and Head of Tribhuvan University Sports Science Department Prof. Pashupati Adhikari, NSSF Board Member/Chief Finance Officer Sobin Raj Regmee, NSSF Board Members Padam Rana and Khadka Bahadur Thapa, PABSON Chief Advisor DK Dhungana, Co-President Gopal Acharya, Senior Vice President Dipika Thapa, Vice President Santosh Mani Neupane, Secretary General RB Katwal, Deputy Chief Secretary Bhuwan Lal Shrestha, Secretary Chandra Kumar Adhikari, Member Lokendra Khadka, and others were present. At the event, it was expressed that the collaboration would give a new direction to the school-level sports sector.

NSSF President Binod Shrestha said, "This collaboration will prove to be a milestone in the development of school-level sports in Nepal. Our objective of taking Nepali students across the country to the international stage and introducing them will be implemented more effectively." Likewise, Krishna Prasad Adhikari said, "Since education and sports are an integral part of modern education and can make the country renowned in the national and international sector, this collaboration will give more priority to sports along with education in private schools."

Points of the bilateral agreement between the Nepal School Sports Federation and PABSON:

- Fund and resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, program management, and participation in training and capacity-building programs.

- To involve schools in sports and educational programs organized by the International School Sports Federation (ISF) in collaboration with the NSSF.

- Encourage schools under PABSON to actively participate in competitions and training programs.

- Participate in programs such as gender equality, leadership development, workshops, training and motivation, women's empowerment, anti-doping, child abuse, leadership projects, and children's sports psychology.

- Conduct workshops and training sessions for school staff, including coaches and physical education instructors, to enhance their skills, including the school solidarity project and more.

- Providing specialized training to prepare for national and international competitions.

- To arrange scholarships and awards.

- 6500 private schools affiliated with PABSON will be the members of the Nepal School Sports Federation.

- To organize sports competitions like NSSF PABSON Cup, ISF PABSON Cup, ISF PABSON Combat Games, ISF PABSON Games, School Premier League (SPL), etc., and to collaborate in organizing inter-school sports events and competitions at district, regional, and national levels in team and individual sports.

- Conduct talent identification and sports development programs.

- Partner with NSSF and ISF Academy Nepal for workshops and sports curriculum.

The agreement will come into effect from today and will be expanded to include additional programs upon agreement between both parties.
