About Brasilia
Modernist architecture
Brasilia is renowned for its futuristic and innovative architecture, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and urban planner Lúcio Costa. Landmarks like the Palacio da Alvorada, the Cathedral of Brasília, and the National Congress are striking examples of modernist design and must-see attractions for architecture enthusiasts.
Unique city layout
Brasilia’s urban layout is designed to resemble the shape of an airplane, with wide avenues, large open spaces, and a central axis that houses government buildings. The city’s careful design makes it a unique and pleasant destination for sightseeing, with easily accessible landmarks and neighborhoods.
Vibrant cultural scene
The city hosts a variety of cultural events, including music, theater, and dance. Visitors can enjoy shows at the National Theatre, explore the Museum of the Republic, or attend one of the many festivals throughout the year, celebrating Brazilian culture and art.
Political Heart of Brazil:
As the nation’s capital, Brasilia is home to all three branches of government: the executive, legislative, and judiciary. Tourists can visit Palacio do Planalto (Presidential Palace).
ISF World School Championships
ISF World Schools Championships (WSC) are events characterized by a balanced program between sport and educational content: the balance between sport and education is to create awareness about the role of sports in putting forward topics such as fair play, healthy lifestyle, respect, and inclusion.
WSC is open to the participation of school teams. Besides the name of the respective member, teams will defend the colors and name of the specific school they represent. This format is meant to create a strong identification between the students and the school they attend. WSC is a team competition, meaning that team results are awarded by trophies, medals, and certificates.
Each ISF member may enter the competition with more than one school team per category.
Age categories for WSC’s are outlined in their respective sport-specific rules. The educational program and the sport format of the event shall always be adapted to the age of participants: in general, in events for lower age categories, the educational content will have a more prominent role.
* Please note that the provisional program is subject to change. Any relevant changes will be communicated.
